Insulated Tortoise House — Handmade to Order

The Humbirds Tortoise House is built to last a lifetime — robust, fully insulated, and made entirely to your specification.

Designed and handcrafted in our Staffordshire workshop, each house is built from solid T&G wood which is pressure treated to use Class 3 for longer life, 50mm Celotex insulation throughout — sleeping area, living area and complete floor. Your tortoise stays warm, safe and comfortable whatever the weather.

Standard dimensions are approximately 119cm length, 79cm height and 62cm width including roof overhang. Weight is approximately 50kg. All dimensions can be adjusted to your requirements.

What's included as standard:

• 50mm Celotex insulation throughout — sleeping area, living area and floor
• 8 x 50mm circular ventilation ports and 2 Slide vents through three walls plus porch to prevent water ingress
• Perspex window
• Door hinged from base, left, right or from top — with lockable latch and hold-back latch
• Porch to prevent water ingress
• Heavy duty lifting handles either side
• Hutch runner to raise from floor and prevent water ingress
• Ramp from door to ground with chrome hooks and latches (option)
• 20Lt galvanised hibernation bucket — fits the sleeping and hibernation area (option)
• Felt roof finish with two to four latches
• Two adjustable heat lamp rails in sleeping and living areas — compatible with all HabiStat heating modules
• Front entrance with hanging fly door or Swing door
• Roof held open latch with storage position
• Heavy duty damp proof floor/wall liner — prevents rotting and allows easy cleaning
• Comes with general reptile thermometer/hygrometer with alarm — positioned in front window
• Oval plaque: "Beware of the Tortoise"
• Finished in your colour choice — Crown/Sandex 10 exterior satin paint. Bay Tree is our most popular
• Supply with 1or2 Weather proof mains electrical sockets on 3m of cable with plug (option)

We've also built houses for Sulcata tortoises up to six years old — if you have a larger or more unusual species just get in touch.

A note on colour: We're increasingly getting requests to match existing enclosure colours — no problem at all. Just let us know the colour and make and we'll do our best to match it.

Before you order: Please do your research before purchasing a tortoise. Different species have very different requirements and we want every house we build to be the right house for the right animal. We're always happy to talk through what you need. In addition please consider security if you are adding a run because of vermin.
