BEE FARM concept design for solitary bees TBC

This product has become of interest though other sales and gaining an interesting friend who is heavily into maintaining Solitary bee life, as a producer of Bee and Bug Hotels it was great to get a better understanding of the life cycle of the Solitary bee and what they need to complete their very short life cycle , the products I produce are functional to their needs but restricted in there use because of certain design features namely the depth of the cane holes and the diameter of the cane holes. Solitary Bees like holes to be from 6, 7 or 8mm in diameter  and hole up to 20cm in depth, this allows up to 10 eggs to be laid with the last egg being male.

Online there are many Bee and bug hotels designed more to look pretty than to genuinely help bees, some are just what I would call novelty and not even last through one winter

The functional prototype featured below was made to certain design guidelines and I'm pleased to say it has been excepted and populated by some bees late into their life cycle. I can replicate this design but I am working on making the product lighter with the same capacity of holes PLUS a smaller design with circ. 100 holes

Once you have many tenants sealed into your Bee Farm as Pupa stage bees you can collect them by disassembling this design and place them into a Hatching/Emergence Box - see my other product.

Any size bee farms can be made from the generic design, the choice is yours.

Solitary bees are some of our most important pollinators.  They’re gentle, non-aggressive and do an incredible amount of work pollinating flowers, fruit and vegetables.

They are wonderfully messy workers, carrying pollen on the hairs of their bodies rather than tidily packing it away. This means they often transfer large amounts of pollen between flowers, making them exceptionally effective pollinators for gardens, orchards and wildlife habitats alike.

Unlike many bee hotels, the nesting blocks can be opened at the end of the season, making the Bee Farm reusable year after year. This allows the nesting cavities to be inspected, cleaned and and reassembled for next year.
